Reuben Sandwich
Rye Bread (you can use any bread but a darker bread like wheat is better)
Butter
Sauerkraut
Corned Beef or deli slices of roast beef
Swiss cheese
Butter bread, layer sauerkraut (drained), beef, and cheese on bread on the unbuttered side.Top with other slice of bread, buttered side out. Grill until toasted and cheese is melted. We also like to grill the sauerkraut first, to warm it up.
Note on sauerkraut: Sauerkraut is better if it is well rinsed with water and drained. Some Germans mix the rinsed sauerkraut with finely diced peeled apples and then serve it warm with sausage (bratwurst).

I grill my kraut before I put it on the Reuben- this way it is warm and cooks out more of the liquid!
