Onion Chip Dip {& Onion Soup Mix substitution}
A simple dip for potato chips. {One daughter requests this for her birthday every year!}
Onion Chip Dip
2 cups sour cream {16 ounce carton}
1/2 to 1 envelope of onion soup mix {Lipton brand is good}
Stir together the onion soup mix and the sour cream. Return to the fridge to chill for at least a few hours. Stir before serving. Serve with potato chips.
Here is a recipe for a substitution if you don't have a prepared package of onion soup mix:
Onion Soup Mix/Chip Dip
1 Tb. minced dried onion
1 tsp. beef bouillon granules
Dash of ground pepper
Dash of paprika
Add to 1 cup water for onion soup or 2 cups sour cream for chip dip.
Tiffany's Notes: Of course this dip is best with regular sour cream, but you can decrease the fat by choosing a reduced fat or non-fat sour cream. I like using 1/2 of an envelope of the onion soup mix--but, you may like a bolder taste and want to use the entire envelope. {There are usually 2 envelopes in each box.}
