Raspberry Nut Jell-O Salad

2 small pkg. raspberry Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries, thawed
3 bananas, mashed
1 cup nuts, coarsely chopped, optional
2 cups sour cream
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple

Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water and add strawberries, pineapple (with juice), bananas and nuts. Pour half the mixture in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Chill until set. Spread with sour cream; chill until set, then cover with the remaining Jell-O mixture. Chill until set. Cut into 2-inch squares and serve on a lettuce leaf.

Note: A simpler version is to omit the layers and pour the Jell-O into the 9x13 pan or a large bowl.  It is good with or without the sour cream and with or without the nuts.
